Argentinië: Salta
After only a three days' visit in San Juan, the big trip continued towards the north of Argentina, as we were trying to finish our trip through Bolivia, the north of Brasil and so on to Fortaleza. Our next stop: Salta. This city in the north of Argentina has some 1,1 million inhabitants, but it seemed like a typical nice and small town. Funny thing was the appearance of some people in Salta, which are still Argentinians ofcourse, already tended to look like Bolivians with their round faces.
Salta has some nice squares, impressing buildings and a lot of places to chill out and take a zip of our so beloved golden water. In this city we also found the best demonstration of the 'siesta' phenomenon from the places we had visited throughout the continent. Every day at one 'o' clock in the afternoon all the shops closed down and they only opened their doors again four hours later! This caused especially downtown to look completely dead and maybe even a little spooky during these hours. Nearly no one appeared on the streets, except for some lost tourists like us, who were looking for a place to use some drinkable consumptions. The reader could also read here 'some not too disgusting locar beers' instead of 'drinkable consumptions', both of the two fit the exploited activities.
In the end we managed to cope with all these difficulties in Salta! Take a look at the following disasters we all survived succesfully:

One of the common traffic jams downtown
towards the end of the day

Check out this hardcore gangsta style vehicle

By accident we almost appeared in the
middle of the action here

A great view from one of the hills around Salta

This place also offers excellent conditions
for paragliding

At the same time you had a great view from
this hill over the car race track there

A castle look-a-like building in the middle of the city

This is another example of the
beautiful buildings in Salta

And at night the same building
looks like this

Some more illuminated stuff
during the night
